There is so much to do in New York
it’s really just a matter of figuring out what you’re
in the mood for. I love going into Queens for an art fix. PS.1
is one of my favorite places for art because it is not precious
or sterile. There is a real creative energy there. And a day
in Queens for me would definitely not be complete without a
visit to the Sculpture Center. The Center showcases a lot of
emerging artists along with more established ones.

Check out the West Side of Manhattan
starting from Tenth Avenue and 25th Street down to the meatpacking
district. This area is a bit off the beaten path and it really
has so much to offer. On the weekends, this area does not feel
as congested as the rest of the city. My advice would be to
start with the galleries but to not forget to stop in Printed
Matter and the Dia book shop for some great reads. Then browse
through the Chelsea Market and try one of the divine Fat Witch
brownies. Explore the shops like Jeffrey, Destination, Alexander
McQueen, and so many more. Lastly, relax and enjoy burger and
fries at Pastis.

| New York has an endless array of
shops. There are a few where even if you don’t buy anything
it still feels like a treat. One of my favorite shops is Flora.
It’s a small flower shop on Thompson Street and they carry
the most amazing things. Their selection is incredible; they
offer exotic choices like mountain palms, esperance roses, and
the most vibrant poppies—not to mention the most beautiful
bouquets that come in bamboo boxes.
