Creamy Cranberry Jalapeño Dip  Back to Recipes



Ingredients
  • 12 ounces fresh, raw cranberries, hand-chopped
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 fresh jalapeño pepper, seeded and diced (be careful to wash hands thoroughly after dicing or wear gloves while handling!)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 16 ounces regular cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • Zest of 1 orange and 1 lime
  • ½ teaspoon allspice 

Directions

Use a medium mixing bowl to combine cranberries, green onions, cilantro and jalapeño. Add white sugar, orange and lime juice, and pinch of salt over mixture and stir with wooden spoon, carefully, not mashing the cranberries. Add zest and allspice to mixture and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

Remove from refrigerator and dump in strainer to strain liquid from mixture. (The juices will have mostly been absorbed by berries). Spread the softened cream cheese in base of serving dish (a rectangular dish works best). Evenly top the cream cheese with the cranberry mixture and serve with toasted baguette slices, black peppercorn crackers or cheddar cheese crackers!
