Ecco Domani® 2017 Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie

Ecco Domani translates to “Here’s tomorrow” in Italian, reflecting our forward-thinking approach and contemporary wine style. We choose our grapes from the regions where they grow best, which allows us to create authentic Italian wines with bright fruit flavors. Our Pinot Grigio is made with fruit from the celebrated regions of the Tre Venezie: Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

About the Wine:

Our Ecco Domani delle Venezie DOC Pinot Grigio is made primarily from hand-harvested grapes grown in the high-altitude region of delle Venezie. This signature wine has a straw yellow color, with light green and gold flecks.  On the palate, it is a complex wine with notes of citrus and exotic fruit. It offers delicate floral and tropical fruit aromas of pineapple, passion fruit and mango. On the finish, an intense aroma of Williams pear complements the lively acidity. With its food-friendly and approachable style, our Pinot Grigio pairs beautifully with light pastas, poulty and fish, and it can also be enjoyed as a refreshing “after-work” aperitif.

About the delle Venezie DOC:

The three regions of Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto encompass the delle Venezie DOC in northeastern Italy. This high altitude region is ideally suited to producing crisp, elegant Pinot Grigio grapes.

Viticulture Notes:

The healthy grapes of the 2017 harvest were of an excellent quality despite the season beginning with an unusual spring climate and reduced yields (-20% compared to the 2016 vintage). Frost in the spring was followed by warmer than average temperatures in the summer, and the fruit managed to fully ripen and produce small berries in exceptional condition. The opulent wines from this year are displaying a nice balance and rich, concentrated flavors.

Winemaking Notes:

Following harvest in September, the grapes for this wine were gently crushed and pressed. The juice was allowed to cold settle prior to fermentation, which occurred in upright stainless steel tanks for three weeks at an average temperature of 64°F. The wine was aged sur lie for two months and then on light lees until bottling to preserve freshness and a clean, full mouthfeel.
