ITALIAN INSPIRED SUMMER PICNIC

I’ve got Italy on the brain… I just came back from a trip to magical Florence, I’m off to Milan next week, and I’ve just started planning our honeymoon to the Amalfi Coast! The latter is somewhere I have always longed to go. So much so, that I stare all day long at two gorgeous photos of Positano, opposite my desk. I was so excited to partner with Ecco Domani Wines on creating a fun little gathering inspired by one of my favorite places in the world, featuring their best-selling Pinot Grigio that is just perfect for summer sipping.

You guys might already know that I’m obsessed with classic movies, and I always try to use my imagination when I’m planning a trip, an outfit or a fun meal out, to have a little bit of silver screen magic in it. Cut to… my chic little picnic in the park, inspired by many of the vintage films that I love, set on the Italian or French Riviera. Fresh summer salads, Mediterranean nibbles and a decadent cheese plate make for a gorgeous spread. When it comes to the tablescape, I’m all about rich colors and textures. I spread the picnic table with simple brown paper, threw some silver dollar eucalyptus in between dishes, and added sunflowers to mason jars for a bright, young and fresh vibe. Plus the oranges and lemons made for a pretty centerpiece! The most important part? The wine! In the heat of the summer, nothing beats a light, chilled and crisp white wine. I love a dry Pinot Grigio, and thisEcco Domani x Zac Posen collaboration bottle is just so cool to set on the table. The design for this bottle was inspired by Zac Posen’s resort collection, with pretty blush and metallic accents, making it the perfect accessory for your picnic table. It’s all about the details when entertaining!

As a bit of a self-proclaimed wine connoisseur (well, I wasn’t until I started wedding planning this Spring!), I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a fortune for a great bottle. There are some incredible options in the $10 range – I’m stocking up on this Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio this summer, which goes perfectly with lighter food items – salads, fish, chicken… Anything that you would bring to an elegant summer picnic. Just add a sundress and straw hat to complete the vibe!
