What’s better than a glass of wine? A glass of wine paired with Italian Wine Cookies made with Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio.

  • 1 cup Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio
  • 2 tablespoons Sambuca
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 lemon zested
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup turbinado sugar for topping/sprinkling to finish
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon lemon extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • Non-stick cooking spray


Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Lightly spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray or coat with softened butter and flour.

Combine oil, sugar and Sambuca in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly mixed. Beat 3 eggs in a separate bowl. Add the vanilla, lemon and almond extracts to the beaten eggs. Add the egg mixture to the large bowl with the oil, sugar and Sambuca. Whisk mixture together. Add the Ecco Domani Pinot Grigio and lemon zest. Whisk until thoroughly combined.

Begin adding the flour 1 cup at a time to the large mixing bowl, stirring constantly, until all 4 cups are mixed in.

Remove dough from bowl and knead the dough into a ball on a floured cutting board.

Pinch off a 1-inch ball of dough and roll it into a long, uniform, log that is 4-6 inches in length and ½-3/4 inches thick.

Create a donut shape with the dough, pinching the dough ends together to form a circle.

Repeat until all the dough has been used for cookies.Place the cookies a couple inches apart on the baking sheet.

Beat the remaining egg in a small bowl and use a basting brush to coat the tops of the cookies with egg wash. Sprinkle the cookies with turbinado sugar. Bake until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes depending on thickness of dough and varying oven temperatures.
