SANS - 2007
Defying easy categorization, fashion label SANS is about multi-function. Designers Alessandro DeVito and Lika Volkova, the creative force behind SANS, offer versatility in the application of their designs, creating different looks for a single garment. The design duo uses eco-conscious fabrics created from natural resources such as bamboo and soy. Organic materials are integral to the SANS collection, creating stunning designs that feel luxurious against the skin.
Notes from the Runway: New York Fashion Week, February 2007
SANS presented its Fall 2007 collection on a frigid Saturday evening at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square. Creative cutouts adorned many garments in the show, most notably a show-stopping swing coat with a hollow cutout through the back.
The label's hallmark eco-conscious aesthetic prevailed with deconstructed dresses and coats in sustainable materials, such as wool, tussah silk, bamboo and soy. Standouts included a grey wool "window" tunic with rectangular cutouts around the bodice, a voluminous white alpaca sleeveless coat and a jarringly bright lemon silk dress with grey wool sash and cape.
