Zac Posen - 2002
New York native Zac Posen attended Saint Ann's School for the Arts in Brooklyn and later studied fashion at Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London. By age 21, the design protégé had already gained valuable internship experience at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, Robert Cary Williams, Tocca and Nicole Miller.
Posen captured the attention of top fashion editors with his first collection at Henri Bendel, and his work was later showcased at the design-centric Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The charismatic designer is a favorite among the Hollywood elite, creating pieces for chic celebrities, including Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Natalie Portman, Rihanna and Gwyneth Paltrow. Posen's designs also have graced the silver screen in hit movies such as The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City.
Since his Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation win, Posen has received many of fashion's top honors: the Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award, the Prix de la Moda New Designer of the Year Award and an honorary doctorate from San Francisco's Academy of Art University. Posen has partnered with numerous big-name brands, creating a capsule collection for Target Australia and a limited edition tote for DHL, with proceeds benefiting TeachersCount.
Posen expanded his womenswear line with the launch of Zac Posen Handbags in Fall 2004, and has since announced the development of a signature fragrance and watch collection.
